Latin III – February 13-17

2/13/12

Salve!

This week, we’re moving on to Lesson XIX.
1. Complete all worksheets for Lesson XIX. (I will be checking your work this week.)
2. Learn all vocabulary for Lesson XIX.
3. Review chants. Be able to recite chants by being given only its name.

-Example:

I say: “2nd Declension Neuter.”
You immediately say: “Um, I, O, Um, O, A, Orum, Is, A, Is!”
I say: “Optime!”

4. It may be a good idea to begin review Unit III lessons and vocabulary.
5. Be prepared for Quiz on XIX.

Latin III: January 30 – February 2

1/30/12

Salvete!

Last week, you were either absent for class or took a little “field trip” during class. Therefore, none of you took Quiz #16. But don’t you worry your pretty little heads, I will get the quiz to you. (Neo: Katie will give it to your dad. Jonathan: you live with me.) Please finish your quiz this week and turn it in to me on Friday!

Study Lesson XVII (17 for those of you who aren’t keen on Roman numerals), complete all worksheets, and memorize all vocabulary. We will have a quiz on lesson 17 in class. Two quizzes in one week! Woot!

Latin III – January 9-13

1/9/12

Salvete!

This week, please complete all worksheets for Lesson XIV. Be sure to study the lesson and learn all vocabulary in order to be fully prepared for Friday’s quiz!

Latin III – January 2-6, 2012

1/2/12

Salvete, Amici Latinae! Happy New Year! I’m sure you have enjoyed the break, but now it’s time to dive back in.

This week, I’d like you to review chants and vocabulary, because, let’s face it, I’m sure we’re all a little rusty on our Latin.

You do not have to complete any worksheets this week (unless you are behind, then of course, you must catch up). You’re welcome.

We will review the “big test” over Units I and II in class on Friday.

Happy studying!

Latin III – November 28 – December 2

11/28/11
  • Begin worksheets for Lesson XIII
  • In class, we will review for your big test on Units I and II. We might even retake the quiz on lesson XII. I know you’re ecstatic!
  • Begin studying for your test over Units I and II.

Latin III – November 14-18

11/14/11

Salvete Amici Latinae!

  • Begin Lesson XII. This means you must read the lesson, study your vocabulary words, work on chants, and complete all worksheets for Lesson XII.
  • If you are behind, this is the week to catch up. I will be reviewing your worksheets on Friday. Nota Bene: it would probably be a good idea to bring your books (both books) to class on Friday. Actually, it would be a good idea to bring them every Friday. This is Latin class after all.
  • We will take Quiz XII on Friday. Yay!
  • Also, it’s a good idea to review all of your chants.
  • If you have not finished Quiz X and XI, this is the last week to turn it in.
  • On Friday, December 2nd, we will have a test over Units I and II.

Latin III – November 7-11

11/7/11

Salvete!

  • Fabrizio, complete Lesson IX and  X quiz. Bring both quizzes to class on Friday. (If I gave you a quiz that has already been filled out – which I think I might have – don’t do that one. I’ll give you another one, if so.)
  • Begin Lesson XI. Complete all worksheets and learn all vocabulary. Nota Bene: I will check all homework on Friday. Quiz on lesson XI on Friday. You know the drill.
  • We will review past quizzes in class.

Enjoy!

Latin III – October 31-November 4

10/31/11

Salvete!

I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding. Ideally, the headmaster would give you your quiz and you would then sit in on the Jr. High/Sr. High school Latin class. But there was no headmaster. I hope you still learned something.

  • Complete Lesson X. Study vocabulary, grammar, and complete all worksheets.
  • Since you did not take the quiz for lesson IX, I will combine quizzes for lesson IX and X, which we will take on Friday.
  • So, study both lessons; review lesson IX, begin X.

Latin III – October 24-28

10/24/11

Salvete, Amici Latinae!

Complete all worksheets for Lesson IX. Be prepared for quiz on Friday. STUDY. DO YOUR WORKSHEETS.

There is a possibility I will be out of town. If so, the headmaster will proctor your quiz and you may sit in on the Jr. High/High School Latin class, which I know will be good for you. :) Behave and be respectful.

On November 4, when I am back, we will review the quiz you took on October 21st. Because it really needs reviewing.

Nota Bene: If you have not finished your homework from last week, it must be done this week. I will check all of your homework on November 4th.

Latin III – October 17-21

10/16/11
  • If you have not yet finished Lesson VIII worksheets, do so this week. If you have, enjoy your light week – play soccer, roll in the dirt, catch butterflies – or whatever boys like to do in their free time.
  • We will have our quiz on Lesson VIII and begin Lesson IX in class on Friday. If you get a chance, please practice translating. We will translate more Latin on Friday! I know you’re excited! (Especially, you, Fabrizio. :) )
  • Continue memorizing Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus. You’ll each take turns reciting what you know (you should know at least half of it by now, if not all).
  • I will hand in your graded Unit I Tests on Friday. Don’t just look at your grade and put your test back in your notebook, never to be seen again. 1) Show your parents 2) Review missed problems for future reference. (AKA, to make a better grade next time!)
